On Easter Saturday 26th March the IAAF/Cardiff University World Half Marathon Championships will take place on the streets of Cardiff and is set to be one of the most prestigious and enthralling UK endurance events of recent years.

The world’s best distance runners will compete in the hotly contested race and 20,000 runners of all ages and abilities from all over the world will run in the footsteps of champions, along the 13.1 mile course. Many will be fundraising and we predict that over £2.3 million will be raised for charities and good causes.

The race will start outside Cardiff Castle at 13.35 with road closures in place beforehand. The finish line is on King Edward VII Avenue, outside the Temple of Peace.

Due to the nature of the event, it will be necessary to implement road closures along the route to facilitate the safe passage of the participants.

PLEASE NOTE – THE PLANNED ROAD CLOSURES FOR THE EVENT MAY AFFECT YOUR AREA OF RESIDENCE. PLEASE FOLD IN YOUR WING MIRRORS TO PROTECT YOUR VEHICLE.

For further information please refer to the road closure maps outlined on our website under the Road Closures tab which highlight approximate timings of road closures and when to expect the first runners around the route.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that we will try to keep any disruption to a minimum. We wish to thank you for your understanding and we are grateful for your support and cooperation.

Please turn out on the day and join the thousands of spectators who will be cheering on the runners from around the world. For more information about the race or to enter, please visit www.cardiff2016.co.uk.
